DIY Bottle Cap and Wine Cork Holder

Written by: Renee Reiter

Hey y’all! Did ya miss me?? Feels like it has been forever since I posted! I have been working hard on some 2017 goals that I had set for my vinyl business this year. But Jessica has been busy posting some amazing things; if you haven’t had a chance to check them out yet, be sure you do!

Okay, need to take you back to 2016 for a minute for this one. Yes, I know I have really been slack on posting my projects! Last year the hubby and I were overjoyed to hear that his brother’s girlfriend said “Yes” to the big question and that wedding plans were under way. I was honored when Brittany (his wife) asked me to make a few things in vinyl for the big day! One of the items I was lucky enough to help with were some boxes to hold the wine corks and bottle caps from the wedding reception.

One thing I didn’t love about some of the examples I saw on Pinterest were how large some of the boxes seemed. Even with a lot of corks and/or bottle caps they tend to look too “empty” to me. So I decided to go with some smaller shadow boxes so they would look a little fuller at the end.

I got one white and one black shadow box from Michaels craft store and then put a pencil mark in the center so I would know where to drill my hole. For the hole I had to bust out some of hubby’s tools since my little pink tool kit wasn’t going to get it done lol. I used a power drill and a Forstner Bit to make the hole.

I was so nervous that they glass might break or that the wood would split; but everything came out perfect! Then I just cleaned them up real good and took them inside to apply the vinyl wording.

Then a few wooden letters (also from Michaels) painted in their wedding colors to top it all off.

Here is the finished project. I was so bummed that I didn’t get a good picture of them at the wedding or once they were full later. I got swept away in the fun and love of the day!

And here is a glimpse at the happy couple and me and the hubby all ready for the festivities!

We hope that you saw something here today to help you during your own crafting & life adventures. We encourage our readers to share their own projects in the comments as we absolutely LOVE seeing what others were inspired to create. We also kindly ask that comments be polite or constructive.
– Sincerely Renee & Jessica
