Yep, it’s that time of year. You thought you had it all covered. You are prepared. Well you do what most organized and “prepared” people do, go through and check one more time to make sure!! AGGGHHHHH…..HOLY SHIITAKE MUSHROOMS!!! You are NOT finished!! You forgot all about that one person or small little finishing touch for someone!!!! Damn….clocks ticking and deadline is nearing!!
I don’t know why I haven’t learned yet, but I do this ALL THE TIME!!! So much so I keep small gifts and trinkets just for this type of issue (most of the time anyway)!! Well don’t ya know it, I missed one, actually a couple but who is counting (besides my own nerves)!!! What makes it worse is they were for my girls (for shame, but it ain’t the first time and definitely won’t be the last). But today I scrambled just a little, especially since Christmas budgeted money is running out.
Every year I try to get our girls some earrings to add in their collection. Normally I get them the ones that cater to their individual tastes and likings. Well … this time since my goofy behind didn’t do like I usually do so I have to go a slightly different route, especially since we have already reached our limit on what I spend for Christmas. Luckily I was able to find a large selection of multipackets of earrings at Kohl’s….what made it even better they were on clearance!!!! SCORE!!! Now to decide what would be the best way to divide and gift these suckers….hmmm!!! Well time to put some of my “trash” to use..hehe. Time to whip out the TP rolls!!
This is pretty easy and self explainatory…but I am going to make these cut rolls to look as wrapped candy pieces stuffed with their earrings. Since I didn’t have anymore TP rolls I just cut one of the longer cardboard rolls into three sections. Now since I don’t want loose earrings tumbling around in this tube, I purchased some cute little Christmas buttons (again on clearance at Hobby Lobby) for me to use to hold the earrings in the tubes. This is also a great way to keep them together in your jewelry box for easy finding.
Well now to stuff!!! To keep minimal movement, I just stuffed a small bit of confetti paper in the tube on the both ends just to “trap” the buttons in place.
Yay!! Time to make “candy”!! Pretty simple, I just wrapped the the tubes with tissue paper that is about 3 x’s wider than the length of the tube. Want to make sure that you have enough room to tie the ends without making it too tight. If you try to tie it too tight, you will more than likely just rip up the ends making it pretty much useless.
Good thing about this wrapping idea, besides it is a great last minute help, but these are most things you have at home. Great idea for just some candy to give to your neighbor or even mailman. Also for voucher gift certificates or a spa gift certificate for a full experience spa session (hint hint Jeff!!) But even if you can’t get out to purchase a gift, just stuff some money in there!! This definitely won’t look as though you really did forget, nor doesn’t look lazy (key word here is look hehe). I hope this helps y’all just a bit as we wind down this holiday season!
