Geez, all the dust in here!!

Written by Jessica Chaffins

Okay, so here I am again sharing another cleaning hack.  With kids, seems like this is all I do.  Anyway, I promise this will be short and sweet, but it works really well for me in my kitchen and hopefully it will help in yours.  Don’t know if ya remember or not but our kitchen is very small.  I have been able to successfully work around a lot of issues that arise from having little space.  Even issues that have nothing to do with the amount storage space.  With having such a small kitchen and no ventilation out of the house…guess they decided to skip that step in building this house, among other things, ugh but back to the point…steam and grease carry in the air and settle on everything!!  Needless to say, our kitchen needs a lot of love and care to keep it clean.  After a few dozen times of scrubbing all the things that are rarely touched or handled, I was determined to find something to make my life easier!

I have seen a lot of posts about where people would put wax paper on the tops of bookshelves and other furniture to help with “dusting” of furniture.  Well there ya go….space above the cabinets solved.  BAM!! I can deal with washing the few items I have displayed up there.  Then I found where people used the press -n- seal stuff for the shelves in the fridge to help with messes and spills inside.  Ah ha!! I can go with that idea.  Since the top of our fridge is another nasty mess, why not just put that stuff on the top instead of the inside.  Goes without saying I use both of these ideas and I love it.  Instead of using the press and seal stuff I just use cheap plastic wrap.

My handy dandy dust busters!!!

It is pretty self explanatory from here,  I line the tops of my cabinets with the waxed paper or deli paper (make sure it is clean up there before hand otherwise it defeats the whole purpose of the paper).  Sorry for the rough looking pics….kinda hard to get a good angle standing on top of the counter.

Same goes for the refrigerator top.  I currently have some plastic wrap on here already, so all I need to do is carefully roll up the wrap.  Then just toss!!  I just clean off the corners, that don’t get covered, with just warm, soapy water and I am good to go!!  Now just add a new layer, return my Pop’s recipe boxes back on top of the fridge….BAM good to go!!  Takes a whole 15 whooping minutes to do all my cabinet tops and fridge!! Gah…I love it when things go this smooth!!

Hope this is something that can you help you out too!! Let us know what works for you or what you have done different to accommodate your needs.

We hope that you found helpful or inspiring tips that you can incorporate into your own life and crafting adventures. We encourage our readers to share their own projects in the comments as we absolutely LOVE seeing what others were inspired to create. We also kindly ask that comments stay polite and/or constructive.
