Trader Joe’s Did What for Me On My Wedding Day?!

Written by: Renee Reiter

When my husband and I were planning our wedding I knew I was a bride on a budget. If you have read my write up about how made our Guest Book then you already know that even though I was having a very small wedding of only 15 guests I still wanted certain aspects to be thought of and included. Flowers was another one of those items.

Picking the flowers was my absolute favorite part of wedding planning. When asked what my favorite color is I usually say, “All of them when they are all together” and flowers are the perfect way to achieve that! I racked my brain to think of all the places that I could get flowers from and not break the bank. I even included people who I knew had flowering bushes and considered asking if they would “donate” some. In the end I checked about 6 places that were a mash up of grocery stores, farmers markets, and actual florists.

The answer came while I was grocery shopping at Trader Joe’s…somehow it had completely escaped me to consider them. It was new to the area at the time and I had never been to a a handful of times since it opened. However, the few times I did go I ALWAYS stopped to look at the flowers including this time. Since I recently been on what felt like a tour of flowers I could really see the quality and colors in these and then I look down and see prices of $5.99 and $7.99!! I almost cried with happiness! I knew immediately these were what I wanted.

I waited and bought the flowers the day before the wedding and rushed them home to arrange them into beautiful centerpieces for the reception. FYI I had already worked out a head of time that the venue was willing to accept the flowers the night before the wedding and place them in their large cooler to keep them fresh. So all I had to do was get them made and dropped off.

I bought the large blue mason jars form World Market in packs of 6 to hold the flowers. I used Ashland Water Jewels in the bottom because they hold a ton of water and knew the flowers wouldn’t dry out this way. Perfect solution! Then I just tied twine around the tops for the jars for a tiny accent.

Ariel shot of all of them! I LOVE all the color!!

Here they are on the big day!
